INFORMED, PERSONAL CARE
Let’s talk about Ortho-K.
Orthokeratology uses specially fitted rigid contact lenses worn during sleep to temporarily reshape the front of the eye. The practice offers Ortho-K as part of its myopia care. Your doctor will assess whether it is appropriate for your child.
Start with the pattern, not just one prescription
Myopia makes distant objects appear blurry. A current prescription tells part of the story; earlier prescriptions can help show how vision is changing. Your doctor reviews this history with eye health and the results of the examination.
What Ortho-K does
Orthokeratology uses specially fitted rigid contact lenses worn during sleep to temporarily reshape the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye. Your doctor explains the distinction between temporary vision correction and the goal of managing myopia progression. It does not permanently cure nearsightedness.
A routine the whole family understands
Overnight lens wear requires careful cleaning, handling, and follow-up. The ability to follow the prescribed routine is part of deciding whether Ortho-K is suitable. Discuss how a parent or caregiver can help and what to do if a lens is uncomfortable or an eye becomes red.
Questions worth asking before you start
Ask what the evaluation and fitting include, how follow-up is arranged, what replacement lenses may cost, and which parts of care your plan covers. There is no one treatment or schedule that fits every child. The consultation is the place to understand the options and responsibilities.
Before your visit
Bring previous prescriptions if you have them. Ask about suitability, costs, hygiene, and the commitment involved. Results vary, and contact lens wear requires careful cleaning and ongoing monitoring.

GOOD QUESTIONS
What would you
like to know?
For questions about your own eyes, a conversation with the doctor is the next step.
No. Suitability depends on the prescription, eye health, and ability to follow the lens-care routine. A consultation is the first step.
No. Its reshaping effect is temporary. Your doctor will explain the wear schedule and follow-up care needed.
Ordinary single-vision glasses correct blurry vision. Myopia management also considers how nearsightedness is progressing and whether an additional treatment approach is appropriate. Your doctor can explain the goals and limitations of the options discussed for your child.
Bring your child’s current glasses and previous prescriptions if available, plus relevant eye records. Tell the doctor about any past contact lens wear and questions about the daily care routine.
No. All contact lens wear has risks, including infection. Follow the prescribed cleaning and wear instructions and attend recommended follow-up visits. Your doctor will explain warning symptoms and when to stop wearing lenses and seek care.
